RuneScape Mobile launches on iOS and Android
Developer Jagex has released the smartphone version of RuneScape for iOS and Android. The game is free, has a mobile-friendly interface and, according to the British developer, is completely cross-platform.
The mobile version of RuneScape received a modified interface where text, menu elements, icons and textures were optimized for playing on a smartphone. The combat mechanics were also adapted for a smaller and touch-sensitive screen.
RuneScape Mobile for iOS and Android is cross platform. Players can log in with their desktop account and all quests, characters and locations are the same as with desktop variant. Gamers can easily switch from PC to mobile, or vice versa, and continue their gaming session seamlessly, according to Jagex. The game is free but includes paid extras including new missions and special abilities.
Jagex has been working on RuneScape Mobile since 2017. Android users have been able to test the game through early access since 2019. iOS users had to wait until May 2020. Since April of this year, players have been able to sign up for the game, giving them “exclusive in-game rewards.” According to Jagex, more than 1.8 million people have done this.
An older version of RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, has been available for iOS and Android for some time, this version was released on October 30, 2018.
