Rumour: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Coming to Nintendo Switch in Fall
According to game website Kotaku, the arrival of a game that combines Nintendo’s Mario world with Ubisoft’s Raving Rabbids has been confirmed. The website says it has seen footage of the game. The game would be released for the Switch in August or September.
Kotaku reports that the game will be called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The website has seen art assets, but the anonymous source has requested that they not be published. According to Kotaku, the images make it clear that the game is being designed with Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. That engine was first used for Tom Clancy’s The Division. South Park: The Fractured but Whole was also made with the engine.
The images would also show that it is an RPG with turn-based combat. The game would be locally playable with two players in co-op and would have a humorous approach. Kotaku reports that there are eight playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach and four Rabbids, who are dressed as the four Nintendo characters mentioned.
Information about the game first came out in November. Website Let’s Play Video-games said at the time that the game was called Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids, but maybe that wasn’t the final title. Ubisoft would develop the game under the strict supervision of Nintendo. Ubisoft may present the game at E3, which takes place in June.
Ubisoft released the game Rabbids Land for the Nintendo Wii U in 2012. The publisher has made several Rabbids games, mostly party games. The games are a spin-off of the Rayman platform games. The crazy rabbits first appeared in those games.
