Rumor: YouTube launches live streaming app

Google is said to be working on YouTube Connect, an app for mobile devices to livestream images from the camera and post them directly on YouTube. Facebook and Twitter already have such services, but the largest video site in the world does not yet.

The video will not only appear in the Connect app, but can also be viewed directly on YouTube, claims Venturebeat. You can log in to the app with a Google and a YouTube account. The site offers live streaming to a limited number of users with Creator Studio, but not everyone.

Live streaming of the camera image from the smartphone has been on the map since the Meerkat app suddenly became fashionable in the media world last year, due to frequent use at the SXSW festival in the United States. Then came Twitter with Periscope and later last year Facebook with Live.

Meerkat is now only focusing on a social network for video, but Twitter and Facebook are continuing their live streaming features. It was previously rumored that YouTube would support live streaming of 360-degree videos.
