Rumor: Xiaomi will release three foldable smartphones next year
Smartphone maker Xiaomi would like to release three foldable smartphones next year. Those would be variants of the current shapes for foldable smartphones, namely the shape of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2, the Motorola Razr and the Huawei Mate Xs.
The largest of these is the one that works like the Huawei Mate Xs, with the screen on the outside Ross Young reports from analyst firm DSCC. It would have a screen on the outside with a diagonal of around 8 “.
The other two are a smartphone that can be folded out into a tablet with the screen on the inside like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and a folding phone with the screen on the inside like the Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr. Specs of the phones are not yet known.
Xiaomi has not released foldable smartphones so far, but has already shown a concept of a double folding screen on a smartphone. According to this rumor, that concept has not led to a new model.
Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo and Royole, the screen manufacturer that makes the FlexPai smartphones, are the only ones to release foldable smartphones so far. The market for foldable smartphones is currently still small, with the high price of the current models probably hindering high sales figures. Xiaomi has not commented on the rumor.
