Xiaomi will probably provide the primary camera of the 13 Ultra smartphone with gimbal stabilization. That’s what a leaker claims. It would be the same 1″ camera sensor of 120 square millimeters as the predecessor 12S Ultra. It was never released in Europe.

There are a total of four cameras on the back, claims Digital Chat Station. They all have autofocus. The primary sensor is the same as on the 12S Ultra, Sony’s IMX989. That is a 1″ sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels and an area of 120 square millimeters. This makes it the largest camera sensor in a smartphone to date.

Little is known about the other cameras. Presumably it concerns a camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens and two cameras with zoom lenses. One would be a regular camera with 70mm lens in 35mm equivalent for about 3x magnification. The other would be a periscopic zoom that magnifies about 8x.

Xiaomi had wanted to announce the 13 phones last week, but that announcement fell through. It is unknown when Xiaomi wants to present its next high-end phones. The postponement is probably not due to technical reasons, but to the death of former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. The 12S Ultra only came out in China this year; it is unknown whether the successor will appear in Europe.
