The successor to the Xbox One X has reportedly been codenamed Anaconda by Microsoft. The manufacturer is said to be developing successors for both the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X. These would be released during the holiday season of 2020.

Windows Central’s Jez Corden claims to have heard from anonymous sources that two versions of the Xbox One successor are in the works. For example, a less powerful version would be released, which will replace the One S and is codenamed Lockhart.

The other, more powerful version and successor of the One X would for now be called Anaconda. In addition, Corden claims that Microsoft is looking for ways to limit the loading time of games and may supply an extra SSD with the Anaconda. Microsoft has not yet responded substantively to the rumors.

Corden cites a rumor from Thurott in the same article. The website claims that Microsoft will announce a new version of the Xbox One in January that does not have an optical drive. In addition to the console, Microsoft would also announce a special arrangement that would allow users to convert their physical game library into an online library through authorized sellers. Microsoft has not yet confirmed this claim either.
