Rumor: Warner Bros is working on a new Matrix movie
After Independence Day and Jurassic Park, you could of course wait for it: there may also be a new version of another iconic film from the 1990s. This time it’s The Matrix that would get a sequel with a new film.
Nothing is certain yet, as it is a rumor and that rumor, coming from The Hollywood Reporter, states that the project is still in its early stages. As a result, it could still be that the entire film will not go ahead. Moreover, there is no script at all or even a well-defined idea. For example, it could be that, following the upcoming Star Wars film about a young Han Solo, a young Morpheus will get his own film.
The first film in The Matrix trilogy is an iconic film, but many fans of the 1999 first installment would have happily taken a blue pill to avoid seeing the sequels a few years later; many fans turned out to be a lot less enthusiastic about that.
The Matrix distinguished itself mainly by the story and the special effects, in which the slow-motions of, for example, dodging bullets stood out. The idea for a new Matrix film came from producer Joel Silver, according to the sources of The Hollywood Reporter. The film’s writers and directors, Lana and Lilly Wachowski, are not currently involved in the project. Main character Keanu Reeves also has no role for the time being, according to the Hollywood rumor site.
