Rumor: vivo Xplay7 smartphone has 10GB of RAM and 512GB of storage
The Chinese smartphone maker vivo would like to release the Xplay7 smartphone later this year. The model would have a working memory of 10 GB and an internal storage with a capacity of 512 GB.
The brand would put its most high-end smartphone on the market with the Xplay7, according to photos that appeared on Weibo. That post has since disappeared, but Android Headlines had already taken over the images and specs. The photos appear to have been taken during an event, although it is unclear what kind of event that should be.
The vivo smartphone would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, the upcoming high-end soc of the American processor designer. Vivo links the soc to a working memory of 10GB, a record for a smartphone so far. The OnePlus 5 and 5T, like some other models, have 8GB of RAM on board. OnePlus and vivo belong to the same parent company, the Chinese BBK.
The storage would have a capacity of 512GB, while the screen will have a 4k resolution. Smartphones with 4k resolution have been around for several years, but until now only Sony made them. The Xperia Z5 Premium from the end of 2015 was the first phone with a 4k screen and last year the Xperia XZ Premium appeared with the same resolution.
Like the X20 Plus UD, the Xplay7 would have a fingerprint scanner behind the screen. The design leaves few bezels on the sides of the screen, although the claimed 92.9 percent relative screen size sounds too high: many Chinese manufacturers are smuggling in calculating the screen-to-bezel ratio. Xiaomi and Huawei, among others, gave the public incorrect information about this in recent years.
It is unknown when the Xplay7 should be released. The predecessor of this phone appeared in December 2016, which makes it obvious that the successor will appear soon. The first phones with Snapdragon 845 may hit the market in March.
