Rumor: Ubisoft is working on four more Assassin’s Creed games, including VR title
Ubisoft is working on four smaller Assassin’s Creed games, in addition to the previously announced titles to be released in the coming years. That reports insider and leaker Tom Henderson. Among other things, the game maker would make a VR game and a free PvE co-op game in the AC universe.
Ubisoft would announce the first of these games this summer at E3, writes Henderson for Insider Gaming. That concerns Project Nexus, a VR title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. In addition, the Canadian game studio is said to be working on three other projects, which are currently in concept and prototype stages.
Among the games, for example, is a new project from the team behind Assassin’s Creed Rogue creator Ubisoft Sofia. This title, called Nebula, would be set in India, the Aztec Empire and a Mediterranean setting. Ubisoft Chengdu is also said to be working on a free-to-play game in the Assassin’s Creed universe. It would be a co-op title with PvE elements. In addition, the studio behind the multiplayer parts of previous Assassin’s Creed games and Splinter Cell is said to be working on a new multiplayer game based on Ubisoft Scalar.
It is not known when the various games will be released, although that probably will not happen in the short term. Ubisoft might return to annual Assassin’s Creed releases, according to Henderson. Project Red, an AC title set in Japan, is set to release next year. Invictus would follow in 2025, with a release of Hexe in 2026. Ubisoft already announced those three games in September.
