According to Reuters and Techcrunch sources, Uber wants to sell its self-driving car division. The intended buyer would be Aurora, an industry start-up. There is no certainty about a deal yet.

Uber’s division is worth more than six billion euros, according to TechCrunch. Both Uber and Aurora have declined to comment on the two media outlets. According to speculation from TechCrunch, the division may be too expensive for Uber to maintain in the short term.

Aurora, Aurora Innovation in full, was founded in 2017 by veterans of the self-driving car divisions of Google, Uber and Tesla, Chris Urmson, Drew Bagnell and Sterling Anderson, respectively. A month ago, Business Insider wrote that Aurora had raised $ 766 million in investments up to that point, including from Amazon. The company is testing its technology on the roads, but is putting more emphasis on simulations.
