Rumor: Trump wants to start paid online video channel
US President Donald Trump is thinking of starting a paid online video channel, according to a new rumor. Starting a TV channel would be too complex, making a paid online channel the best alternative.
Trump would like to use his database of supporters’ contact details when starting, Axios reports based on anonymous sources. Starting online could allow the channel to launch faster than would be possible through traditional cable companies. There are no details about the programming on the channel yet.
The channel would be necessary because Trump feels that Fox News, the largest TV channel in the United States, no longer delivers the political sound he wants to hear. For example, the TV channel would interview more of its political opponents than before. Trump, who has been president of the US since 2016, has not yet commented on the rumor. He lost the US presidential election last week to his opponent Joe Biden. He wouldn’t be the first former US president to focus on video; his predecessor Obama and his wife started making series for streaming service Netflix.
