Rumor: successor Moto Z Play has significantly smaller battery
Telecom insider Evan Blass has put the suspected specifications of the Motorola Moto Z2 Play online. The phone is equipped with a faster soc, more ram and more storage capacity and has become slightly thinner at the expense of battery capacity.
Evan Blass, who often leaks accurate information about emerging phones, shared the data in an article on VentureBeat. The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 626-soc, which is essentially the same as the 625, but has a clock speed of 2.2GHz, instead of the 2GHz of its predecessor. The RAM and storage capacity have both been doubled to 4 and 64GB respectively.
The format of the phone has remained pretty much the same as it has to continue to work with the existing Moto Mods. It has the same 5.5″ SuperamoLED screen with 1080p resolution as its predecessor, but has become slightly thinner and lighter, with a thickness of less than seven millimeters and a weight of 165 grams. The battery is therefore slightly smaller, from 3510 mAh in the predecessor to 3000mAh in the new model.
The phone will feature a 12-megapixel camera with an f/1.7 aperture. With this, the resolution is lower than that of its predecessor, but the performance should improve in poor lighting conditions. The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels.
The device comes in two colors, called Lunar Gray and Fine Gold. Renders of the new device surfaced last week. It is not yet known when the device will be available and what price it will receive.
