Rumor: Spyro the Dragon Trilogy Remaster Coming to PS4 This Year
Activision is said to be planning to release a remaster of the three Spyro the Dragon games for the PlayStation 4 this year. The announcement was due in March and the release in the third quarter of 2018.
So say several sources familiar with the plans against Kotaku UK. According to the game website, Vicarious Visions is making the remaster and it will get new assets, lighting effects, animations and movies. The soundtrack would also be improved. In many ways, the remaster would be similar to the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy that came out last year and is from the same creators.
The remaster is rumored to consist of the games Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage! and Year of the Dragon. The Spyro the Dragon games were originally developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation. The first volume appeared in September 1998.
The games may also contain content that never appeared in the original games. The game would also receive support for the PlayStation 4 Pro. One of the sources says that the remaster will be released in September, when the purple dragon Spyro will celebrate its twentieth birthday.
The remaster would be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 for a year, but then also appear on other platforms. The same would be true for the Crash Band icon N. Sane Trilogy; it’s currently only available on PS4, but may be coming to other consoles or PC as well.
