Rumor: Sonos wants to release wireless headphones

Sonos plans to enter the headphone market, according to Bloomberg. The manufacturer is said to have started the development of wireless over-the-ear headphones, which could appear on the market next year.

According to Bloomberg’s report, these are high-end headphones and Sonos would target a price of about 300 dollars. The headphones should distinguish themselves from the many competitors with good sound quality and support for multiple music services and voice assistants. Sonos has approached several manufacturers for production, the message continues.

In a recent announcement to shareholders, Sonos hinted at entering the lucrative headset market. The manufacturer then pointed out that half the time people listen to music is spent outdoors. “We plan to push our limits by investing resources in enabling the Sonos experience outside the home.”

The mediocre IPO last year and falling stock prices are said to be the reasons that Sonos is looking for new growth markets.
