Rumor: Samsung will release voice assistant Bixby Voice in America on Tuesday
A Reddit user posted an image online stating that Bixby Voice will be available July 18. The screenshot, taken at a US retailer, also references a Bixby Webinar for merchants.
If the information in the screenshot is correct, Samsung will release Bixby Voice in the US next Tuesday. To activate the voice assistant on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, they must receive a software update from the carriers. The question is therefore whether all American users can use Bixby directly. It is not yet known whether and when the English-language support will also be available in the Benelux.
At the moment, Bixby Voice only works in Korean. The English version should have been available in early May, but that deadline was not met. Samsung recently told the Korea Herald that developing Bixby in other languages is taking longer than expected due to a lack of big data.
Samsung has been piloting the English version of Bixby Voice since the beginning of this year. A user has posted an extensive video on YouTube in which he shows how it works. This shows that it is possible, among other things, to change the screen resolution, set the brightness and start up the camera. All actions that you can perform with a finger on the screen can also be done via voice control.
