Rumor: Samsung will announce its own VR glasses at the beginning of September
Samsung will launch its own virtual reality glasses at the beginning of September, according to The Verge. The glasses, of which an image is now also available, would be comparable to Cardboard, a cardboard pair of glasses from Google into which a telephone has to be inserted.
Unlike the Cardboard glasses announced at Google I/O, Samsung’s virtual reality glasses would not be made of cardboard but plastic, but the principle seems the same: a phone has to be slid in, using the phone’s screen. to conjure up images on the glasses. Lenses in the glasses must ensure that a 3D effect is created.
There has been speculation about Samsung virtual reality glasses for some time, but it is the first time that a rumor has come out about a concrete announcement. Samsung would like to show the glasses at an event where the Galaxy Note 4 will probably also be announced, The Verge reports.
It is unknown whether the glasses are collaborating with Oculus, with which Samsung has a partnership. Recently, an image surfaced of glasses that would be made by both companies together, but they have a different design.
