Samsung is said to be planning to release a new version of the Galaxy Home, the smart speaker with Bixby assistant. It would be a mini version of the current speaker, which will probably be in the shops for a lower price.

So says the Samsung fan website SamMobile, which has its information from unnamed sources. According to the site, work is underway on a smart speaker with model number SM-V310. Many details are not yet known, except that it is probably a smaller and cheaper version of the current Galaxy Home. The new model will be available in black, but it is not known what other colors there will be.

Samsung released the first Galaxy Home earlier this year, a competitor to smart speakers such as the Google Home and Amazon Echo. It is a speaker that stands on three legs and uses Samsung’s own Bixby assistant, which must also run on the new SM-V310. Samsung has recently received a lot of criticism because the voice and information assistant works less well than competitors such as Assistant and Alexa from Google and Amazon respectively.

It is not known when Samsung would like to release the new version of the Galaxy Home. Incidentally, the first version of the smart speaker is not yet available. Samsung says on its own website that it is coming soon.
