Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S9 gets its own variant of Apple’s Animojis

Samsung wants to equip its Galaxy S9 with a function that works like Animojis on the iPhone X. That reports the South Korean newspaper ETNews. In addition, the S9 devices would also receive a face scanner that works with infrared in addition to the iris scanner.

To make the function possible, the front of the Galaxy S9 has a face scanner that works with infrared in addition to the iris scanner. As a result, users can also use the face scanner for unlocking, ETNews claims. The face scan of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 works with the regular camera and is therefore easier to fool and therefore less safe. Samsung also maintains the fingerprint scanner, which can be seen on the renders below the camera or cameras.

The ‘3d emojis’ feature is said to work in the texting app and unnamed chat apps. In addition, users can send the animated emojis instead of regular emojis. Apple’s Animojis feature only works in Apple’s own iMessage. They are renders of, for example, animals or objects that imitate the mimicry of users thanks to facial recognition.

Recently, images of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ have already been released. Samsung recently announced that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be announced on February 25. The brand also hinted that the focus will be on the camera.
