Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has 16GB of RAM
Samsung would like to provide its top model Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G with an option for 16GB of RAM. More details have also emerged about the camera setup on the various phones from the suspected Galaxy S20 series.
This would make it the first smartphone with 16GB of RAM. It will be a more expensive option claims XDA Developers employee Max Weinbach. The model is rumored to come standard with 12GB of RAM. The storage goes up to 512GB and users can put a memory card up to 1TB in it.
XDA has also released details about the cameras of the S20 models. The S20+ has a Sony IMX555 as its primary camera, the site claims. That is a 12-megapixel camera with pixels of 1.8 microns in size. The sensor is therefore a lot larger than the 12-megapixel camera of the Galaxy S10, which has 1.4 micron pixels. The secondary camera is an S5KGW2 from Samsung itself, which is a 64-megapixel sensor that is also larger than the primary sensor of the S10. It is unknown what its function is.
The S20+’s camera setup is significantly different from the S20 Ultra, which features a 108-megapixel sensor and a 48-megapixel secondary camera, Weinbach says. XDA claims that the camera will get a pro mode for video. There will also be a function called Single Take, with which the camera makes its own footage and the software recommends the best images to save.
Samsung has planned an event on February 11, where it is expected to show the successors of the Galaxy S10 phones. For a long time, those phones were called Galaxy S11 in the rumor circuit, but it seems that Samsung is going to bring the numbers in line with the year and therefore opts for S20.
