Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S20+ smartphone gets 120Hz screen
Samsung would provide the Galaxy S20+ with a screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. This phone is expected to be one of the devices from the suspected Galaxy S20 series, which should follow the current Galaxy S10 smartphones.
This claim comes from XDA Developers employee Max Weinbach, who recently also shared unconfirmed information about the working memory of the top model Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and data about the camera set-up on the various phones from the suspected S20 series. According to him, an unnamed source has confirmed that the devices will have a 120Hz screen, with a screenshot showing a toggle for the 120Hz option. That refresh rate was only possible in the FHD+ display mode with the S20+; in wqhd resolutions it is not supported. The source was only able to test this with the S20+, but the suggestion is that 120Hz is a specification of at least several devices from the suspected S20 series.
On the left the toggle for the 120Hz option and next to it a comparison between the S10+ and the larger S20+.
The S20+ would also have a screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9 with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels, although XDA Developers is still adamant about this, because it has not been able to confirm these exact data. According to the website, all S20 devices, namely the S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, come with this aspect ratio and resolution.
In addition, these new smartphones would all still have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and therefore no optical one. The S20+ would also be the first Galaxy S series phone without a headphone jack and this model would support 25W charging.
The S20+ would be a lot bigger than the S10+ and the S20 Ultra 5G would in turn be bigger than the S20+. Earlier, Weinbach reported that the S20 Ultra 5G will get 16GB of ram and that would come to 11 or 12GB with the S20+. Furthermore, the S20+ is rumored to have 128GB of storage space and a battery with a capacity of 4370mAh.
The various Galaxy S20 devices will probably be presented at Samsung’s own event. This event is scheduled for February 11.
