Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S10 has 3D facial recognition and three cameras
Samsung will equip its Galaxy S10 smartphone from next year with 3D facial recognition and three cameras on the back, an analyst says in a note. The iPhone X also has such facial recognition, while the Huawei P20 Pro has three cameras.
The three cameras have different focal lengths, which allows for photography with different angles of view, and the three cameras also help with augmented reality, writes The Investor based on analyst firm KB Securities. The Huawei P20 Pro is the first high-end smartphone with three cameras on the back. It has a primary sensor with a maximum resolution of forty megapixels, a monochrome sensor and a sensor with a focal length of 80mm in 35mm equivalent for 3x ‘optical zoom’.
Samsung would use the 3D facial recognition for authentication. Apple put that system on the iPhone X and recently Xiaomi announced the Mi 8 Explorer Edition with this technology on board. There are no details about the 3D facial recognition that Samsung would use.
The manufacturer released its Galaxy S9 this spring. Samsung always releases a Galaxy S in the spring, followed by a Galaxy Note in the fall.
