Rumor: Samsung foldable phones Z Fold3 and Z Flip2 have smaller batteries
The upcoming foldable Samsung smartphones Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip2 would have smaller batteries than their predecessors. Usually new models in the same series have a battery of the same capacity or a higher capacity.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 goes to 4380mAh, while the Z Fold2 has a 4500mAh battery, reports The Elec. The Z Flip 2 has a 3200mAh battery, while the Z Flip has a 3300mAh battery. It is unknown why Samsung opts for batteries with a lower capacity, while both phones do not have a long battery life compared to other smartphones.
According to The Elec, the smaller battery in the Fold 3 should save space in favor of the screen and a smaller housing. With the Z Flip2, the processor, memory and storage should ensure a lower power consumption, so that the battery should last longer. Both phones have a battery in two parts. With the Z Fold3 these are almost equal parts, in the Z Flip2 is a 2300mAh battery at the bottom and a 900mAh battery at the top, says The Elec. The batteries come from Samsung’s own battery division.
Samsung would like to present the foldable phones in July. The manufacturer presented the Z Fold2 in August last year, the Z Flip came out in February last year. Samsung is not considering releasing a Galaxy Note this year. Instead, the Z Fold3 could handle the S Pen stylus just like the S21 Ultra. Samsung has not commented on the rumours.
