Rumor: Samsung doubts between flat Note 6 and Edge variant
Samsung is currently testing two variants of the Galaxy Note 6, one with curved screen edges and one with a flat 5.8″ screen. Only one variant will eventually hit the market, GSM Helpdesk claims based on a source familiar with the plan.
In both cases it concerns a 5.8″ device with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, 6GB ram and 32GB storage that can be supplemented with a memory card. The smartphones both contain an Exynos 8-soc with slightly higher clock speeds than the version in the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, but according to GSM Helpdesk, there are also test models with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 in circulation, which is probably a slightly faster variant of the current Snapdragon 820.
Samsung would aim for a release that should take place shortly after the introduction of Android N, somewhere in August or September. The prototypes currently being tested would also include the developer version of this operating system. Samsung would simultaneously update the camera software, although the Note 6 would have the same camera as the S7. Finally, the Galaxy Note 6 will have a large battery of 4000mAh, if the rumor is correct. Samsung used batteries of that size only with the Galaxy A9.
The Galaxy Note 6 is the expected successor of the Note 5. This device was never on the market in Europe.
