Rumor: Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will be released on October 28
Google’s Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones will be released on October 28. At least that’s what Jon Prosser of the website Frontpagetech says. He has often released information about Pixel phones early on.
Jon Prosser references an earlier post that suggested the Pixel 6 would be released as early as September 13. That information, taken from a Bald Panda account on Weibo, is incorrect, according to Prosser, if only because that date falls one day before the biggest Apple event of the year. That wouldn’t be too smart from a marketing point of view, says Prosser.
Prosser says he bases himself on ‘his best sources’. Based on their information, he states that the new Pixel phones will be available to pre-order from October 19 and they will then actually be available from October 28. From that date, the devices can actually be found in the shops.
He does not yet mention prices or in which countries the new Pixel smartphones will be released. Previously, Android Police, among others, based on landing pages of the Pixel 6, assumed a release in eight countries, namely the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and Taiwan.
Google confirmed the arrival of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro a month ago. The company then posted photos of the devices and indicated that they use a soc that Google has designed itself. The Verge wrote at the time that the Pixel 6 Pro would have a 6.7″ display with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The regular Pixel 6 would have a 6.4″ display with full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz.
Both phones will have a fingerprint scanner under the screen, Google reported. The Pixel 6 Pro gets three cameras, including a telephoto lens with 4x ‘optical zoom’. The regular Pixel 6 does not get a camera sensor with a telephoto lens, but the rest of the camera situation is the same.
Meanwhile, Android Police reports, based on retail industry sources, that Google will also release a new Pixel wireless charger. An image shows that it would be a standard with a capacity of 23W. If that information is correct, it could mean that the new Pixel phones can also be charged with that power. The original Pixel Stand didn’t go beyond 10W.
