Rumor: OnePlus will only release 8T this year and not 8T Pro
OnePlus would only release a OnePlus 8T this year and not an 8T Pro variant. Last year, a 7T Pro appeared, but it was almost the same as the OnePlus 7 Pro. The regular OnePlus 8T is rumored to have a 120Hz screen.
Twitter user and editor at AllAboutSamsung Max J. claims that the OnePlus 8T is internally code-named kebab and that there will be no kebab2 or kebabb variant. Last year’s OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro had code names hot dog and hot dog b. The twitterer clarifies in a response to his own tweet that he means that there is no OnePlus 8T Pro.
OnePlus has been releasing T versions of its smartphones for several years now, about half a year after the original release. Last year, the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro came out, but the Pro version was pretty much the same as the original OnePlus 7 Pro. The new model had a Snapdragon 855+ soc instead of the regular Snapdragon 855 and a marginally larger battery. The 7T Pro was also for sale in a new color. OnePlus may not release an 8T Pro because the difference with the older 8 Pro would be small. Also this year, the manufacturer could opt for the + version of Qualcomm’s latest soc.
A render of the OnePlus 8T has already appeared, which can be seen in an early build of Android 11 for OnePlus phones. The new version may have a flat screen instead of a screen with sloping edges. According to a rumor, the 8T will get a 120Hz OLED screen, just like the 8 Pro. The current OnePlus 8 has a 90Hz screen. The new version would also get different cameras, with an improved primary camera and an extra depth sensor. OnePlus would release the 8T in late September or early October.
