Rumor: OnePlus 8 ‘Lite’ gets MediaTek soc and costs 460 euros
According to a rumor, OnePlus will release a smartphone with a MediaTek soc this year. It would be the OnePlus 8 Lite about which information appeared earlier, although the name has not yet been confirmed. The device with 90Hz screen would be released in July for about 460 euros.
The information comes from Ishan Agarwal. He often publishes details about unannounced smartphones. According to Agarwal the name of the cheaper model is not yet known, but it is a device that will be positioned under the upcoming OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.
In the United Kingdom, the device would cost 400 pounds. Converted that is currently about 458 euros. According to 91Mobiles, the smartphone will receive a MediaTek Dimensity 1000-soc. MediaTek presented that 5g-soc last year. It is the fastest soc the company makes. It would be the first time that OnePlus uses a soc from that manufacturer.
At the beginning of this year, OnePlus showed an unannounced smartphone. It seemed to be a device of which renders appeared earlier. Until now, this phone is known as the OnePlus 8 Lite. Agarwal states that the cheaper model will be available worldwide around July and is equipped with a 90Hz screen.
Agarwal also shares new details on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. The Pro version would support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging at 30W. This may also apply to the regular OnePlus 8. The smartphones will receive a Snapdragon 865-soc with 5G modem and a 120Hz OLED screen with a hole for the front camera. OnePlus would announce its new smartphones in mid-April.
