Rumor: Nvidia to release RTX 3070 Ti 16GB and RTX 3080 12GB in January 2022
Nvidia is rumored to introduce an RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB vram and a 12GB version of the RTX 3080 on December 17. Both video cards would be available from January 11, 2022. The announcement of the RTX 2060 12GB is also expected.
The arrival of an RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB vram was already rumored last year, but at the end of 2020 it would have been deleted by Nvidia. According to Twitter user Hongxing2020 that variant will be released early next year. According to VideoCardz, the person has previously provided reliable information about the arrival of RTX 30 GPUs.
GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition
The RTX 3070 Ti 16GB has twice as much vram as the current RTX 3070 Ti. The RTX 3080 12GB has 2GB extra vram compared to the regular RTX 3080 and just as much memory as the RTX 3080 Ti. Nvidia may phase out the existing versions of the RTX 3080 and replace it with the variant with more vram.
Hongxing2020 also says that the previously rumored RTX 2060 12GB will be available from December 7. Earlier, anonymous sources told VideoCardz that that variant based on the older Turing architecture would appear in early 2022. Nvidia would like to re-release the RTX 2060 due to ongoing chip shortages. The Turing GPUs are made on a different production process.
