Rumor: Nvidia to release improved GeForce RTX 4080 with AD102 GPU in early 2024
Nvidia will release an improved version of the GeForce RTX 4080 ‘early 2024’, claims leaker MegasizeGPU. It would be either an RTX 4080 Ti or a 4080S. While the original has an AD103 GPU, this one reportedly features the RTX 4090’s AD102.
The TGP of the GPU must according to MegasizeGPU stay below 450W. That is less than the TGP of the RTX 4090, although the power consumption will probably be higher than the 320W of the 4080. It is still unknown how many CUDA cores the video card contains. The original RTX 4080 has 9728 cores and the 4090 has 16384, so the number of cores is probably somewhere in between. Further specifications are not mentioned, already suspects VideoCardz that the card will also have a memory capacity between 4080 and 4090. That would mean that the GPU will have 20GB of GDDR6x memory and a 320bit memory bus.
According to the leaker, the more powerful 4080 GPU is in the same price range as the original. At the time of its release, it had a suggested retail price of 1,469 euros. MegasizeGPU does not know whether it concerns the 4080S or Ti. However, since Nvidia seems to have stopped offering ‘Super’ variants of its video cards for some time, it seems more likely that this is an RTX 4080 Ti.
