Rumor: Nvidia to release first RTX 4000 cards in mid-July

Nvidia may release the first RTX 4000 video cards in July. This is evident from information from leaker kopite7kimi, who has often shared correct details about Nvidia GPUs that have not yet been announced.

Last year suggested kopite7kimi already that the video cards based on the Lovelace GPUs would come out ‘earlier’ than the cards of the current generation. The RTX 30 GPUs were announced in September. Now the leaker claims it is a release to the beginning of the third quarter.

In recent months a lot of information has come out about the GPUs known under the code name Lovelace. The largest GPU in the series, the AD102, is said to have a maximum of 18,432 CUDA cores. That is almost double the number of cores of the largest Ampere GPU, which has 10,752 cores. The GPUs would also get much more cache than their predecessors.

The first video cards in the RTX 4000 series are presumably high-ranking models. For example, it could be the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070. Nvidia holds the Computex trade show in Taiwan a keynote at the end of May. The manufacturer may provide information there about the upcoming video cards.

Update, 11:51: Kopite7kimi mentions now more specifically mid-July. The article has been adapted accordingly.
