Rumor: Nvidia to announce GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti on May 31
The announcement of the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti is rumored to take place on May 31. The GPU maker would release the video cards in June, according to VideoCardz sources.
VideoCardz sources state that Nvidia previously planned to announce the RTX 3080 Ti on May 18, but that the company has delayed it by several weeks. VideoCardz also states that Nvidia will also introduce an RTX 3070 Ti video card on May 31. The review embargoes of both video cards would be different; the RTX 3080 Ti reviews would be published on June 2, and those of the RTX 3070 Ti will follow a week later, VideoCardz reports. The release dates of the GPUs are not yet known, but usually such releases take place on the same day of the reviews or a day later.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is rumored to have a GA102-225 GPU with 10,240 CUDA cores and 12GB of Gddr6x memory. That is 2GB more than the regular RTX 3080. However, the new video card gets a 384bit memory bus, which increases the maximum bandwidth to 912GB/s, where the RTX 3080 offered a memory bandwidth of up to 760GB/s.
According to VideoCardz, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will have a GA104-400 GPU with 6144 CUDA cores, compared to a GA104-300 chip with 5888 CUDA cores in the regular RTX 3070. The Ti variant would again get 8GB of video memory, although this time the GPU would be equipped with faster Gddr6x memory. The video card is also expected to have a 256-bit memory bus, for a maximum bandwidth of 608GB/s.
Nvidia would also have started shipping new Ampere GPUs with renewed crypto mining restrictions. These GPUs would become available to consumers in the coming weeks, as it turned out earlier. Nvidia confirmed the arrival of renewed RTX 3060 GPUs with a new hashrate limiter in a driver update last week.
Nvidia has not yet officially announced the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti, although rumors about the two video cards have been circulating for months. The GPUs seem to be almost ready for release; recently a pallet with RTX 3080 Ti video cards from MSI surfaced. In addition to VideoCardz, sources from Overclocking.com also report that Nvidia will release the two GPUs in June. This suggests that it is Nvidia’s final internal schedule, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed and may still be subject to change.
