Rumor: Next iPhone May Make Video With Software Blurred Background
The next generation of iPhones, presumably iPhone 12s or iPhone 13, can shoot videos with software blurred backgrounds, a new rumor has it. The phones would also get an always-on function thanks to the new 120Hz OLED screen.
Users can record videos in portrait mode before video and adjust the background blur in post-processing, EverythingApplePro reports based on information from Max Weinbach. The feature will only be available on new iPhones due to the processing power required for the feature.
Such a feature has been on Android phones for some time now. The first of these is the Huawei Mate 20 Pro from 2018, but in the meantime other manufacturers have also implemented such a mode under various names.
In addition to portrait mode for videos, the next iPhone will also have an astro mode as is also found on, for example, Google Pixel phones, EverythingApplePro mentions. The mode activates automatically when users point the camera at the stars and hold it still, allowing for a slower shutter speed than regular night mode.
The LTPO screen of the next iPhone brings two innovations, according to the video; in addition to a refresh rate of 120Hz, there is also an always-on function. It always shows the time and battery status, while notifications light up briefly upon arrival. Always-on is a feature that has been found on other phones for years, but iOS hasn’t supported it until now.
There have been many rumors for months about the next iPhone, which might be called 12s. The design would be roughly the same as the current iPhone 12 phones. However, the devices would be slightly thicker. Apple usually announces its iPhones in the fall.
