Rumor: Microsoft will show HoloLens 2 next month
Microsoft would show the successor to its HoloLens next month. The American company has sent an invitation to an event on the eve of the Mobile World Congress telecom fair in Barcelona.
Director Satya Nadella and Alex Kipman are present at the announcement. Kipman is CEO of Microsoft’s division that makes the HoloLens, from which The Verge concludes that Microsoft wants to show its new AR glasses there. Microsoft showed its first HoloLens four years ago.
There have been rumors for several years about a successor to the AR glasses. It would be a lot cheaper, have a better display with a wider angle of view and run on an ARM soc.
Microsoft itself has not confirmed that it will present a new HoloLens. The invitation doesn’t hint at that either. The American company rarely gives a major press conference at the Mobile World Congress telecom fair. It announced Windows Phone 7 in Barcelona nine years ago.
