Rumor: Microsoft is working on VR glasses for Xbox One
Microsoft is said to be working on virtual reality glasses for the Xbox One. Developers behind the console are said to be testing the device. In a few months, in June, Microsoft will reportedly present the glasses to the general public.
VRfocus reports this on Friday based on anonymous developers. The site said it received information indicating that Microsoft has already started the software for the VR glasses. More details about the device are lacking so far. It is also not yet known which games can be played with it.
The rumor is not entirely unexpected, however. It has been known for some time that Microsoft is interested in the market for VR glasses. Earlier this year, a rumor surfaced that the American tech giant showed interest in Japan’s Fove. Microsoft is said to have invested money in its Oculus Rift competitor.
Besides Microsoft, more companies are currently working hard on VR glasses. These include Oculus, Samsung and Google. In some cases these are glasses with a display, while in other cases a telephone acts as a screen and must therefore be inserted into the device.
