Rumor: Microsoft is working on new Xbox One Elite controller with USB-C
Pictures have surfaced of what would be a new version of the Microsoft Xbox One Elite controller. According to rumors, the controller will have a built-in battery and a USB-C connection. The new model would also work via bluetooth in Windows 10.
The pictures don’t show much of the controller, only details of the sticks. The images would come from the Chinese Baidu, reports a user on the Resetera forum. Some details are described in the photos, stating that the new controller will have a built-in battery and a MagSafe-like charging cable.
According to Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott, the new controller comes in a holder that doubles as a charger. Microsoft would provide the new Xbox One Elite controller with a USB-C connection and Bluetooth. This would allow the controller to connect to Windows 10 devices. A switch is also expected with which you can switch between three profiles and the paddles would get more travel.
It is not known when Microsoft plans to announce the new controller. Thurrott is betting on a presentation at the E3 trade show, which takes place in June. The current Xbox One Elite controller came out in late 2015. The controller is heavier and sturdier than the standard model and has more buttons and adjustment options.
Recently it was also announced that the new version of the original Xbox controller will be released at the end of March for $70. It is a remake of the so-called Duke controller, which is made by Hyperkin. The arrival of this model was already announced in June last year.
