Rumor: Microsoft is testing Surface Phone with 6GB of RAM and x86 apps in Continuum

Microsoft is testing multiple versions of the Surface Phone, according to a new rumor. One version would have a 64bit version of Windows 10 Mobile and be able to run x86 apps in Continuum mode. One of the two would contain a Snapdragon 835, which CPU the other has is unknown.

The test smartphone that can run x86 programs would contain 6GB of ram, claims Nokia Poweruser based on its own sources. The site has often released information from Microsoft’s smartphone division, such as about the name change from Nokia to Microsoft Mobile and the arrival of more expensive Lumias with Windows 10.

The Surface Phone with 6GB of RAM could only run the x86 programs in Continuum mode, in combination with an external screen and mouse and keyboard. There have been rumors for some time that Microsoft is working on an x86 emulator for ARM64.

The prototype of the Surface Phone with 4GB and Snapdragon 835 would not support x86 apps yet. The reason is unknown, the company may come with a consumer version without, and a business version with support.

Both smartphones would have a 5.5″ screen with QHD resolution. The prototypes would run Redstone 3 and this would be a bigger update than Redstone 2, which Microsoft will release as Creators Update. The Surface Phone should be available at the end of 2017. come.
