Rumor: Microsoft is mainly working on Windows features for business users
In the near future, Microsoft would mainly work on features in Windows 10 for business users and give features for consumers a low priority. That’s what a Microsoft follower’s blog claims to have heard from people within the company.
Microsoft mainly earns money with Windows on the business market and the income from the consumer market is a lot smaller. That’s why Microsoft would target new features primarily at business users, Petri.com reports. The site belongs to Microsoft followers and is a sister site to the blog of Paul Thurrott, one of the best-known Microsoft followers in the tech industry. If a feature adds value for business users, it will take precedence over other features to be developed, the site claims based on conversations with employees.
Microsoft announced last week that it would reorganize the company, splitting the development of Windows. Employees who develop OneCore, the core of Windows, fall under the Cloud & AI division, while the developers of the interface and shell fall under Experiences & Devices. In addition, there is no longer a specific CEO for Windows.
Microsoft employees working on Windows have been disappointed by the limited successes in recent years, according to Petri.com. Digital assistant Cortana, music service Groove, wearable Band and Windows Phone, among others, have not grown into great successes in recent years. Microsoft is expected to release a new update to Windows 10 this spring, under the name Spring Creators Update.
