Rumor: Microsoft is going to make fitness bracelet

Microsoft is going to make a fitness bracelet that works with Windows Phone, Android and iOS. That’s what Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott claims. The price of the bracelet would be around 199 euros, he claims.

Thurott doesn’t provide further details or images of the device, but it would work something like Samsung’s Gear Fit bracelet. The screen shows the time and notifications, while the device itself counts steps and keeps track of the heart rate. According to the Microsoft insider, who often has information about unannounced products from the Redmond giant, the bracelet will be released by the end of the year.

The bracelet would work with Windows Phone, Android and iOS. This fits in with Microsoft’s recent strategy to make its services work on more platforms than its own operating systems. Office and OneDrive, among others, work on iOS and Android, but Microsoft also releases Android phones after the acquisition of Nokia. According to Microsoft insider Tom Warren of The Verge calls Windows Phone “not the redemption Microsoft hoped it would be.”
