Rumor: LG will present six smartphones in the coming weeks
LG will present six new smartphones in the coming weeks. That’s what telecominsider @evleaks claims. The most striking would be a sturdy smartphone with a large battery. It should appear on the market in March, according to the information.
‘Smartphone nice’ Evan Blass says that he has seen marketing information from the upcoming smartphones on Venturebeat. Announcements start next week. LG invariably presents new models in the weeks and days before an exhibition starts, and then shows the new phones for the first time at that exhibition. The fair where five of the six new models will be on display for the first time is the CES, an electronics fair that takes place in Las Vegas at the beginning of January.
The sturdy smartphone is part of the X-series of devices that started this year and is called X calibur. It will be a water and dust resistant smartphone in a sturdy housing with an IP68 rating and 4100mAh battery. Another model with a large battery is the X Power 2 with a 4500mAh battery, but that phone will only be available a month later at the Mobile World Congress telecom fair in Barcelona, Blass claims.
The four remaining models are phones in the K-series of low-cost smartphones. These are new versions of the existing K3, K4, K8 and K10. LG has yet to comment on the rumor. If so, the announcements will start next week.
