LG wants to make tablets with rollable screens, insiders at the company have said. The rollable screens would become possible now that LG can make bendable amoled screens with a new technology.

Users can bend the tablets into the shape of a roll of paper, Cnet claims based on insiders in an article that also quotes a researcher from the manufacturer. The rollable tablets would become possible because LG makes its flexible amoled screens with a new technology, where the screens pass under two rolls, something called ‘roll-to-roll’.

The article does not state what exactly the added value of rolling up is. It is probably a way to make the tablet smaller, making it easier to store. Currently, LG is using its manufacturing capacity to make curved amoleds, such as for the G Flex smartphone.
