Rumor: LG is making camera grip and dac as plug-ins for G5 smartphones
LG may be working with Bang and Olufsen on a camera grip and an external dac for the G5. Both accessories are the first two in a line that LG would refer to as ‘G5 and friends’ and that fit into the Magic Slot for plug-ins at the bottom of the smartphone.
The camera grip, the first for a smartphone since Nokia released one for the Lumia 1020, includes buttons to zoom, focus, activate the flash and a shutter button, claims @evleaks on Venturebeat. Blog Android Authority has put an image of the accessory online. The camera grip would also have its own 1100mAh battery for extra endurance when using the accessory.
The second accessory is a dac, which LG makes in collaboration with audio manufacturer Bang and Olufsen. It must deliver a better sound than the standard telephone can produce. It is unknown whether and which plug-ins for the G5 LG is still working on. The smartphone would be the first with such a ‘Magic Slot’. LG will manage the accessories with an app called ‘Friends Manager’.
In addition, the manufacturer will come with accessories at the presentation of the G5, claims the article from @evleaks. Below that is a 360 Cam to shoot 360-degree video. Samsung was previously rumored to also present a camera with 360-degree video. In addition, the manufacturer comes with the 360 VR to play those videos.
Finally, LG would like to present a smartphone-controlled device called the “Rolling Bot”. It can move around the house and communicate with pets and turn devices on and off. No images of the 360 Cam, 360 VR and Rolling Bot have been posted online.
LG will hold an event next Sunday to showcase its G5 smartphone. It will take place in Barcelona on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, prior to the Mobile World Congress telecom fair.
