Rumor: iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have more RAM and faster WiFi
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will have 8GB of RAM and Wi-Fi 6E support. That’s according to Apple analyst Jeff Pu. Of the iPhone 15 series, only the Pro models had so much RAM and support for the WiFi standard.
The regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, which were released in 2023, had 6GB of RAM, while the Pro models were equipped with 8GB of RAM for the first time. Apple analyst Jeff Pu now claims that the entire iPhone 16 series will have 8GB of RAM, writes 9to5Mac. In addition, according to Pu, the regular and Plus models of the iPhone 16 have Wi-Fi 6E, while last year’s editions only have Wi-Fi 6. The Pro versions already had access to the faster WiFi standard. Previously claimed the analyst already states that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will have Wi-Fi 7.
Pu also writes that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be equipped with TSMC’s A18 SoC. The predecessors have an A16, which is also in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. It was previously rumored that these models will have an A17, while the Pro phones will be equipped with an A18 Pro chip. Finally, the analyst claims that the two cheaper models will receive a Qualcomm X70 modem, compared to the X65 of the 2023 versions, and that the Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with a Qualcomm X75. The latter is the first modem to support 5G Advancedincluding better uplink MIMO performance, coverage and stability.
