Rumor: iPhone 13 Pro has bigger and thicker camera island than predecessor
The iPhone 13 phones will be slightly thicker than their predecessors and the phones’ camera island will also be slightly larger and thicker. MacRumors claims this on the basis of information about the new devices.
The information from MacRumors shows that the camera island of the iPhone 13 Pro is 36x37mm, compared to 28x30mm of the iPhone 12 Pro. The cameras also protrude 3.65mm from the housing, compared to about 1.6mm now. The larger camera island is reminiscent of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which has a larger primary camera and camera with longer telephoto lens.
With the iPhone 13, the changes are less significant, the site claims. That camera island sits a little further up on the housing and is approximately the same size as the iPhone 12, which may indicate that the 12 Pro Max’s larger primary camera will not be included in the 13. The iPhone 13 phones are expected to appear next fall as successors to the current iPhone 12 models.
