Rumor: iPhone 12 and 12 Max to get BOE screen and Samsung screen Pro versions

Apple would use OLED screens from BOE in the iPhone 12 and 12 Max. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max would get a Samsung OLED screen. The information comes from Jon Prosser, who also claims to know other specifications and prices of the iPhone 12 series.

In its own words, Prosser has the official names of the iPhone 12 series, the prices and the specifications. He makes the details public in his latest YouTube video. Prosser has proven to have good resources within Apple in recent months.

According to Prosser, Apple uses an OLED screen from BOE in the two cheapest iPhone 12 models. BOE’s screens are probably cheaper than Samsung’s OLED panels, which Apple uses in current iPhones. Years ago there was a rumor that Apple would consider buying screens from that Chinese manufacturer.

The upcoming iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will have a Samsung OLED screen. Prosser confirms that this is a so-called ProMotion screen, with a refresh rate of 120Hz. That also came out earlier today via YouTube channel EveryThingApplePro. However, according to Prosser’s information, it is not yet certain whether the function will be activated, because the high refresh rate requires a lot from the battery.

According to the new rumors, all iPhone 12 models will have at least 128GB of flash storage. There would be 4GB of ram in the regular versions and 6GB in the Pro models. The current Pro versions of the iPhone 11 have 4GB of RAM.

Prosser also mentions the dollar prices of the new devices. They start at $649 for the cheapest iPhone 12; the most expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max would cost $1399. That could translate into euro prices of 749 to 1609 euros.
