Rumor: Intel will release NUC 11 Extreme and Performance barebones this year
Intel would like to release two mini barebones in a NUC 11 line this year. The Panther Canyon NUC 11 Performance will reportedly get Tiger Lake-U processors with Intel Xe graphics. The Phantom Canyon NUC 11 Extreme is aimed more at gamers.
The Phantom Canyon NUC 11 Extreme is the successor to the Skull Canyon and Hades Canyon NUCs, which were also aimed at gamers. The Phantom Canyon will not get Core H processors with 45W TDP, but will have to make do with U chips at 28W, according to FanlessTech, which often publishes information about upcoming NUCs correctly. Intel is expected to ship the NUC 11 Extreme later this year with Core i5 and Core i7 processors and a separate, as yet unknown gpu with 6GB or 8GB ram.The system has Thunderbolt 3 ports on the front and back, includes a 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet port and supports 802.11ax WiFi .
The NUC 11 Performance, codenamed Panther Canyon, would feature Tiger Lake U-generation Core i3s, i5s and i7s. These are processors produced on 10nm+ and the tdp of the chips would be 28W. The GPU of the system is Intel’s own Xe, according to FanlessTech. This NUC also gets Thunderbolt 3 ports on the front and back, and this system also has a 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet port and support for 802.11ax WiFi. The Panther Canyon NUC should be released in the second half of this year.
