Huawei’s upcoming Nexus device with a 5.7 “screen would be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. That is what the well-known smartphone ‘nice’ Evleaks claims. An earlier rumor spoke of a Snapdragon 810.

There have been rumors for months about Huawei’s Nexus with a 5.7 “screen. That display would have a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The housing would be made of metal, like Huawei’s recent devices P8 and Mate 7. In addition, the device is about Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 soc. That is Qualcomm’s first soc with processor cores based on its proprietary Kryo microarchitecture. Qualcomm uses only Cortex A53 and Cortex A57, both from ARM, for its current generation socs. Due to the heat problems, the most powerful clocks Qualcomm-soc, the Snapdragon 810, is so far back in many devices that the performance in practice after some time of use is barely higher than that of previous socs.

The device would also have a fingerprint reader, claims @Evleaks, who is known to have good resources within smartphone manufacturers. Huawei also applied a fingerprint scanner in the Mate 7 and Google built support for fingerprint readers in Android M. The Nexus 6 would already have a fingerprint scanner, but Google removed it due to the malfunction.

The Huawei Nexus should be released in the fourth quarter. That is later than Android M, which according to Google will appear in the third quarter. The partnership with Google would be beneficial for Huawei to gain a foothold in the US market. Huawei is a modest player there, partly because Americans suspected that Huawei was spying for the Chinese government. Conversely, it gives Google an entrance into the Chinese market, where it would like to roll out a Chinese version of the Play Store.

There are also rumors of a second Nexus device, which would have a 5.2″ screen and be made by LG. The Nexus 5 (2015) would appear at the same time as the Nexus smartphone from Huawei. It would be the first are that two Nexus smartphones would come out at the same time.
