Rumor: Huawei puts 3.5mm jack in Mate 20 smartphone
The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 smartphone is said to have a 3.5mm jack. The manufacturer’s P20, P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro do not have the analog connection. Renders also show three cameras on the back, positioned in a square.
The 3.5mm jack is located at the top of the device, according to XDA-Developers based on photos and information from the firmware. Last year’s Mate 10, which was not released in the Benelux, does have the connection, but all other high-end models from the Chinese manufacturer do not have the analog audio port.
The phone has a notch screen, but the notch only makes room for the front camera, much like the Essential PH-1. The phone has two speakers on the front in the bezels of the screen, the site states. The screen has a diagonal of 6.3″ with 2244×1080 pixels.
The phone has three cameras and an LED flash on the back, which sit together in a square. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back. The device has a Kirin 980-soc from Huawei’s HiSilicon chip division and there will be a variant with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. The battery has a capacity of 4200mAh.
Huawei usually announces its Mate phones in the fall, often in October. According to a recent rumor, the manufacturer would already present its Emui 9 skin based on Android 9.0 Pie at IFA, along with new color variants of the already existing P20 Pro.
