Rumor: Huawei Mate 30 Pro will have two 40-megapixel cameras with large sensors
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro has two 40-megapixel cameras with large sensors, according to a new rumor. The primary camera’s sensor would be 1/1.55″ in size, while the ultra-wide-angle camera would have a 1/1.7″ sensor.
It would be the first time that a phone appears with two such camera sensors. The information first came online last week via a via relatively unknown twitterer, but now also the much more famous Ice Universe shared the information. Twitterer Teme (特米) also mentions a ‘cine lens’, but it is unknown what exactly it is or does.
Last year’s Mate 20 Pro was the first Huawei smartphone to have a camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens, but that is a 1/2.6″ sensor with a 20-megapixel resolution. The third camera, like the P30 Pro from earlier this year, have a lens with a focal length of 125mm in 35mm equivalent, which allows for ‘5x zoom’ of the primary camera. That primary camera, like the P30 Pro, is reported to be in a ryyb format, with yellow instead of green color filters to capture more light.
Huawei usually presents its Mate phones in the fall, often with a presentation in October and a release in November. In recent years, the Mate devices were the first to have a Kirin soc of the latest generation, although the biggest innovations in the field of camera were always on the P-phones that come out in the spring.
