Rumor: HTC is going to present two Vive VR headsets for business use
HTC may unveil the Vive Pro 2 and Vive Focus 3 Business Edition VR glasses on May 11 and 12. It would be two VR glasses intended for business use and they should be commercially available at the end of May.
According to news site Protocol, HTC will unveil the standalone glasses Vive Focus 3 Business Edition and the high-end PC VR glasses Pro 2 at Vivecon. The site does not have specs or images of the headsets. Protocol is based on internal HTC company documents and claims that the devices were briefly mentioned on the European web store Alzashop.
According to Google cache, the two devices were indeed briefly seen on Alzashop. According to the store, the Vive Pro 2 has a price of 842.68 euros. The Vive Focus 3 Business Edition is more expensive, according to the cached version of Alzashop, at 1474 euros. Both prices include VAT. Technical information or images will not be shared with the two headsets, but an expected availability of May 20 is mentioned.
There have been rumors for some time that HTC wants to unveil two VR glasses at Vivecon. In the announcement, HTC talks about the unveiling of ‘game-changing VR headsets’. It was also clear that the focus would be on business headsets. For example, HTC has been running an advertising campaign on Facebook and Twitter since this weekend in which the company asks users if they are ready to work in VR. In it, HTC also says that it will show what it can do for companies during Vivecon.
In promotional emails to customers, HTC shares three gifs of VR glasses, according to RoadtoVR. These gifs show cameras on the outside of the glasses, presumably for inside-out tracking. In addition, there are ventilation grilles. This is probably the Vive Focus 3 Business Edition, judging by the extra cooling that would be needed for standalone glasses.
