Rumor: HPE wants to lay off 5,000 employees
Hewlett Packard Enterprise plans to lay off 5,000 employees, 10 percent of its total workforce. That claims financial news agency Bloomberg. The director said earlier that he was considering measures due to increased competition.
The layoff round should start before the end of the year, Bloomberg has heard based on anonymous sources. This concerns employees in multiple countries and in multiple layers of the organization, including managers. HP Enterprise declined to comment on the rumor.
Director Meg Whitman said last month that she wanted to make the organization more efficient by removing layers, in order to better compete with the competition. HP Enterprise also said it plans to save $1.5 billion over the next three years, but did not disclose how that would be done. HPE sold its software business to British company Micro Focus last year.
