Rumor: Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in 2025 and is set in Vice City
The next Grand Theft Auto game may not appear until 2025. That is what Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson recently suggested. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier confirmed on Monday that this matches information from his own sources.
The information comes from Tom Henderson, who last week a video published sharing details about GTA 6. Tom Henderson is best known for his Battlefield leaks; for example, he shared correct details of the upcoming game Battlefield 2042 early this year. The leaker states, among other things, that the upcoming GTA game has a modern setting and takes place in Vice City. The map of the game would be continuously modified and updated after release and the game would also have a female main character.
Another well-known insider, Jason Schreier, endorses Henderson’s information. “Everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches what I’ve heard,” writes the Bloomberg journalist on Twitter. Schreier endorses, among other things, that GTA 6 will have an evolving and expanding map.
Henderson reported last week that the game may not appear and write until late 2025 on Twitter that he dares to bet that the game will not be released before 2024. The longer wait, according to Henderson, is caused by a commitment by Rockstar Games to improve the well-being of its staff. So the studio wants less crunch within the company, something that was the case with previous Rockstar projects.
In 2018 reported Jason Schreier, who was still at Kotaku at the time, that many developers at Rockstar Games stated that during the production of Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, they worked 55 to 60 hour work weeks, which equates to six 10-hour work days. Former Rockstar employee Dan Houser spoke an interview with Vulture about ‘100-hour work weeks’.
